About Us
Through the efforts of Roger Smallwood (N8EKG) of R & L Electronics, representatives of Heil Sound, Icom America, Kenwood, MFJ, and Yaesu visited the WC8VOA operating center and the VOA Museums on Friday evening, Dec. 7. All expressed their congratulations on the efforts of the organizations participating in the VOA restoration, and their interest in support our continuing work. Bob Heil presented the WCARA with an operational Heil Classic Microphone, complete with a VOA nameplate mounted on top of the microphone. Bob participates in the weekly production of Ham Nation webcast at http://twit.tv/hn (Wednesday, 9:00pm ET). He presented a very interesting segment complete with several photographs on Wednesday evening, Dec.12. It is available for viewing at the same website as broadcast #77. The weekly program is hosted by Leo Laporte W6TWT, Bob Heil K9EID, and Gordon West WB6NOA with George Thomas W5JDX covering ‘Smoke and Solder’. Click on the first attachment to see a photo of the microphone presentation. (L to R - Bob Heil (K9EID), Dave Wickelhaus - N8DZ (Pres), Bob Fay - WBØNPN (VP), Karl Howat - N8MIQ (Treas), Mike Murphy - KA8ABR (Engr) and Jim Miller - N8ECI(Chief Engr)) Bob Heil is also an accomplished organist. The second attachment is a picture of him at the Wurlitzer theater organ, which ultimately will be returned to playing condition. Our sincere thanks to the vendors and Roger for thier interest in our project.
